Biography

Being a young cricketer, Daksh is already popular by the name of mystery spinner in domestic and franchise cricket. Because of his consistent performances and amazing bowling style, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 30 Lakh rupees during the IPL auction held in December 2025 for the IPL 2026.

Early life

Daksh Kamra was born in Hisar, Haryana. He was born and brought up in India, where developed an early passion for cricket. From a very young age, he found his love for cricket. 11 years ago, his journey as a cricketer started, primarily as a bowling all-rounder, who showed a knack for spinning the ball in unusual ways. Playing tennis ball cricket during his early development year, turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it gave him the freedom to experiment with different variations, which many young bowlers lack.

His father, Rakesh Kamra, owns a business of building materials in Hisar and never gave up on Daksh when he wanted to pursue his cricketing career. The stability of the family allowed Daksh to concentrate on his game without thinking about the practical aspect of the situation. He attended St. Joseph International School and joined a Mass Communication course at Guru Jambheshwar University, balancing his studies and his cricket training.

The turning point of his career was when he enrolled in GS Cricket Academy in Barara and began to work with coaches Sandeep Kharb and Baljeet Girdhar. Kharb was the one who subsequently recommended him to the Haryana Cricket Association when Daksh was not selected to the state side, which was a moment that arguably changed the whole course of his career.

International Career

Daksh Kamra has not yet played for the Indian national team. So for international cricket, he still has to make his way. However, his performances in domestic competitions and franchise league have placed him on the radar of selectors and cricket analysts.

Players like Kamra, often use domestic cricket as a stepping stone in their career to get recognition. His consistent performances and disciplined approach towards cricket lands him the opportunity to play in the IPL season for 2026. For the first time in his life, as a cricketer, he’s going to play an IPL match as an all rounder for the Kolkata Knight Riders team.

IPL Career

During the mini auction for the IPL 2026, Kamra‘s name appears first. Kolkata Knight Rider bagged Daksh Kamra for a whooping 30,00,000 lakh rupees. The three time IPL trophy winner team KKR chooses a player who matches their criteria. They just don’t choose young spinners on the whim. Abhishek Nair, who is part of the KKR coaching staff, spoke about wanting to develop Kamra as a long-term bowling asset, who can bat useful in the lower order as well. IPL 2026 is the debut season for Kamra. The season began on March 26, 2026. It is his time to show his immense talent in the field of bowling and gather everyone’s attention as a cricketer.

Records & Achievements

Daksh Kamra is at an early stage of his career, but he has already earned some of the notable milestones. At the young age of 23, he was picked up by one of the biggest franchises of IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders. With little or minimal first class exposure, he was successful in getting selected by KKR as an all-rounder.

The most stopped achievement of Daksh is the pace of his googly. He bowls at the speed of around 95-97 km/h, which is significantly quicker than what most batsmen expect from a spinner. His bowling style makes it difficult for the board bats to understand the bowling. Taking seven wickets in four matches during the under 23 match stands as his biggest record return in the competitive season. At the junior level, he took four wickets in a limited-overs match during his Under-19 days, which first put him on the radar of selectors.

Playing Style

He is fast-handed and is able to strike hard shots. He is active and quick in the field and this is an added value to his overall performance. His variations, confidence, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are his greatest strengths.
