With much of the excitement for the start of the 2026 IPL season (beginning on March 28, 2026) being built around the global superstars, another reason for the buzz of IPL 2026 is that it gives many young, domestic players the opportunity to make a name for themselves and possibly the future of Indian cricket as well.

Some new and exciting young, domestic players who participated in the IPL 2026 auction can potentially make a significant difference in the tournament. While these uncapped players have yet to gain any international experience, all of them demonstrated their potential to be successful at an international level through their efforts in domestic competitions.

Here is a list of notable IPL 2026 auction surprise picks that may have a big impact.

 Auqib Nabi – Delhi Capitals

As we kick off our look at the best young players  IPL 2026, the first name that pops up is nothing short of unbelievable: Auqib Nabi. The fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir was nothing short of brilliant this year with his ability to swing the ball, deliver it with great control, and, of course, consistently pick up wickets throughout all three formats of the game.

Nabi’s performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy speaks loudly to both his amazing talent and ability to handle pressure while playing T20 cricket. He delivered impressive results (15 wickets in 7 matches with an average of 8.78) that showcase just how much he has developed his ability to perform under such intense conditions.

Over the last two years, Nabi has also worked hard on developing his death-over bowling skills and changing his speeds as well as his ability to consistently create yorkers, thus becoming a complete T20 bowler.

With continued success in the IPL on top of everything else, Nabi was named to the Delhi Capitals as a last-minute draft selection by the IPL in its first annual auction, and due to the level at which he has performed, many believe he will be amongst the most surprising players to emerge from the 2026 IPL auction.

Prashant Veer – Chennai Super Kings

Another new talent in the IPL is Prashant Veer. This left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder (20 years old) is one of the newest prospects in the IPL that caught people’s attention from his performances at Noida Super Kings during the UP T20 League 2022, including the CSK management.

Since then, he has continued to impress with his home performances. He has been engaged in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and under-23 Uttar Pradesh matches, showing that he is a top-quality all-rounder. In one match where he batted, he accumulated 112 runs with a strike rate of 170; he also took nine wickets at an economy rate of 6.76 – both show why he would be of great value to his team in T20 cricket.

He has established himself as a player who has great potential based on his performance during this time, and CSK are known for developing younger players into match-winners. Thus, he has the potential to be one of the most exciting new players of IPL 2023.

Ashok Sharma – Gujarat Titans

Ashok Sharma is the final name that will be added to the list of uncapped players entering IPL 2026. Fast bowlers that consistently bowl over 140 km/h are valuable assets to IPL teams, and Sharma fits that description perfectly. The 27-year-old fast bowler from Rajasthan has made huge strides as a bowler in the past two seasons, and after putting in hard work and gaining experience, he has developed into a more reliable and complete fast bowler.

This year’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is proof of Sharma’s growth as a bowler. He was the leading wicket-taker in the entire event with 19 wickets during group play, and he did it with a solid average and economy rate of 8.84 throughout the entire 7-game tournament.

Although Sharma has spent the last several seasons with teams like the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals without being given an opportunity to play in any IPL matches, he is now signed by the Gujarat Titans and will now have a chance to show everyone what he can do as an uncapped player in 2026!

Krain’s Fuletra – A Rare Left-Arm Wrist Spinner

Krain’s Fuletra is a fast-bowling left-arm wrist spinner who really stands out among uncapped players during this year’s IPL. His style of bowling is notably rare in international cricket, and it will be interesting to see if any T20 teams want to take a chance on him as an uncapped player.

Fuletra has not played a lot of T20 for Saurashtra to date, but scouts from IPL franchises have already expressed some level of interest in him. Last year, he had the opportunity to bowl at nets for an IPL franchise and was very close to signing as a replacement player for that franchise.

More senior players in Indian domestic cricket recognise his talent too, and Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat has told IPL teams that he should look at Fuletra after seeing him bowl.

There will undoubtedly be franchises looking for both unknown players and also mystery spinners in season 2026 of the IPL, so Fuletra could be a very interesting player for many teams looking for surprise draft selections in the upcoming auction process.

Kartik Sharma – Chennai Super Kings

19-year-old Kartik Sharma (South Africa), an emerging talent as a power hitter from domestic T20 leagues, is creating buzz around his potential as a finisher and lower-order cutter. He has developed a reputation as one of the best clean hitters in the world with just 12 matches under his belt in which he scored 334 runs at a striking rate of 164 (28 sixes) over those matches.

Sharma has also been praised for his match-finishing ability by some of the leading figures in cricket today, such as Kevin Pietersen and Ravichandran Ashwin (in their capacity as experts).

It was largely due to Sharma’s impressive finishing ability that his team qualified for the knockout stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. As finishing power is an extremely important component of T20 competition, Chennai Super Kings have chosen to invest in Sharma because he is a young, fearless batter who may well play a key role in IPL 2026’s success.

The Bottom Line

Fans are eagerly waiting for the Indian Premier League 2026 season, not only to watch star players but also to see new talent shine. Several uncapped players in IPL 2026 are expected to make a strong impact this year. These young cricketers have already impressed in domestic tournaments like the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Although they have not yet represented India internationally, their skills and performances have earned them IPL opportunities. Uncapped Players to Watch in IPL 2026 could become breakout stars if they perform well. A successful IPL season may even open doors for them to join the Indian national cricket team.
